CMS
(Content Management System) A software system used to facilitate the creation, management and publishing of information (content).
Global Management System
(also GMS, Globalization Management System) A CMS or enterprise software system with native functionality to support internationalization and facilitate localization processes.

Hosted solution
A hosted solution transfers responsibility for delivering and managing a software solution to an application service provider. The software application is installed on a server in a remote data centre and is delivered via the internet or a private network. Setup, management and support of the hardware and software, is the responsibility of the hosted solution provider.

Internationalization
(also Internationalisation, i18n) The process of producing products and services (e.g. software, or websites) in such a way that they can be easily and effectively adapted for multiple international audiences. Done well, internationalization reduces the time and resources required for localization.
The internationalization process is sometimes called translation or localization enablement, and may include:
- Ensuring that all locale specific content is managed by a localization content management system (such as DXM)
- Layout design that accomodates fluid expansion or contraction of text volume that may vary amongst localized versions
- Developing with products (such as web editors or authoring tools) that can support international character sets with single-byte character codes (such as English) or multiple-byte character codes (such as Japanese Kanji)
- Creating website graphic images so that localizing text can be managed inexpensively
- Accommodating local numbering, date and currency formats, and other local formatting conventions
